Vision:

Empowering rural communities living in the harsh environment coupled with challenging conditions (arid and semi-arid regions) of Rajasthan to live with dignity and strive for improved and better livelihood options and solutions.

Mission:

GVNML will work to soften the life of rural communities by secured livelihood, well managed common property resources, improve agriculture and livestock production systems and sub-systems, enhanced green cover with active participation of local people`s institutions. GVNML is of the view that all families will enjoy proper reproductive health care and every child will enjoy their rights. GVNML strives for equity, gender balance and social justice in all HRD interventions. GVNML will work for ecosystem restoration and will create an enabling conducive environment for every creature on earth to enjoy its life.

Objectives of the organization

The overall objective of GVNML is to promote integrated rural development for long term sustainable development ofbackward and underdeveloped areas in the State of Rajasthan. GVNML aims:

  1. To encourage and mobilize village youth and engage them in rural and community development programmes aimed at self-help and self-reliance.
  2. To work towards community led sustainable development of natural resources (land/ water/ forest) and management including common property resources (CPRs) with special focus on village commons and water bodies.
  3. To create awareness amongst local communities with a view to prevent degradation and undertake self-managed regeneration of the natural resources.
  4. To enhance capacity of rural community through various trainings and development-cum exposure visits and tours.
  5. To develop user friendly communication material such as audio-visuals, print material, exhibitions, plays including nukkad-natak and cultural shows for dissemination of knowledge, experiences gained and lessons learnt.
  6. To undertake research studies and documentation of processes, institutional structures andbest practices.
  7. To collaborate and establish links with the government department and agencies, academic institutions, research organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to build capacity and scale up implementation of developmental programmes.
  8. To assist the rural community in leveraging and accessing subsidies and other financial help and support under different developmental schemes and programmes.
  9. To improve education standards through non-formal education for children of under-privileged communities and school dropouts.
  10. To ensure good health status of all through increased outreach, providing support services in preventive social medicines and community health by accessing government schemes and programmes.

Organization strategy to achieve vision, mission and objective

  1. People’s institutions are recognized as project partner, who enjoy definite space and rights to expression while participating in GVNML sponsored programmes and related interventions.
  2. Empowering women by engaging them in all programmes and project activities and, simultaneously,initiate special HRD initiatives and efforts for active and real participation at all levels and stages.
  3. Nature conservation is necessary in all developmental activities.
  4. Participatory processes are practiced and followed at all stages of the project cycle.
  5. Extend support to the government when it addresses people’s concern especially the poor and the deprived but, if not, then create pressure groups and constitutionally raise voice.
  6. Study local myths and culture and use these for raising awareness level of local community.
  7. Nurture local community as ground and task force for safeguarding of natural resources.
  8. Capacity building and skill development through various trainings of project field staff with a view to perform better.
  9. Undertake/ initiate micro planning and/ or baseline study before going ahead with the full phase of any given project.
  10. Application and use of use local knowledge vis-à-vis scientifically proven technologies.
  11. People’s or beneficiary contribution is encouraged and funds at the local level are generated to inculcate and instill their ownership and right(s) over the assets created by the people or the community.
  12. Priority areas to undertake developmental initiatives are the arid to semi-arid parts of Rajasthan.
  13. In the health sector, the prime focus is more on social and preventive medicines than on curative health aspects.
  14. Issues and problems of child right, in all project areas are addressed with existing structure of the government for child protection.
